DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME 1997
(IT'S LIKE THE SUN'S GONE DOWN ON ME)

Based on “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin

A vast light has faded to darkness
The tragic end of a woman young and bright
She was inspired to give of herself freely
Now a tear dribbles down my cheek all night

The date the black angel came calling
Grand elegance was taken out of site
Now she is dead and I don’t know what to do
It is more heartbreak than I’m able to fight

It’s like the sun’s gone down on me
I’d sacrifice myself for a chance to set her soul free
One of the greatest tragedies of life has come to be
And losing Diana is like the sun going down on me

I can’t find any kind of thought or line
That begins to describe the way I feel
This has scarred me just as if I’d lost a leg or arm
And now my heart has suffered a blow that it can’t heal
