A LITTLE PRIMER ABOUT EMPHYSEMA

Based on “The Little Old Lady From Pasadena” written by Don Altfeld, Jan Berry, and Roger Christian

A little primer about emphysema
(So gaggy so gaggy so gaggy oh)
It’s a little like the alveolus has blown a seam-a
(So Saggy so saggy so saggy oh)
So then all the air sacs become quite large
And 02 exchange becomes a tougher charge

If you’re gonna work in the Respiratory Arena
You’ll need a little primer on emphysema
To breathe real fast and to breathe real hard
Is a pattern that the patients have to discard

It’s a little primer about emphysema

The lung’s elasticity is so much looser
(So baggy so baggy so baggy oh)
So the A-C membrane is a poor diffuser
(So laggy so laggy so laggy oh)
If the person is sensitive to a known lung hater
You just might get some help from a bronchodilator

If you’re gonna work in the Respiratory Arena
You’ll need a little primer on emphysema
To breathe real fast and to breathe real hard
Is a pattern that the patients have to discard

It’s a little primer about emphysema
Blow granny blow granny blow granny blow

Blow granny blow granny blow granny blow
Sometimes you will ascultate distant lung sound
Other times rales and rhonchi will abound

If you’re gonna work in the Respiratory Arena
You’ll need a little primer on emphysema
To breathe real fast and to breathe real hard
Is a pattern that the patients have to discard

It’s a little primer about emphysema
Blow granny blow granny blow granny blow…
