Monday morning comes
I’m starting out my workweek
Check my mail and try not to freak
State inspectors are set to arrive
OSHA or JACHO
It doesn’t really matter
Had run ins with
Both former and latter
The I.C. crew’s on the job from 9 to 5
Working 9 to 5
Trying to stamp out infection
Every day I strive
To reach aseptic perfection
Every day I find
Some newfangled regulation
It’s enough to drive you
To inebriation
9 to 5
Each day is a new crisis
I believe that I’ve
Learned about most every virus
Now the C.D.C.
Thinks they’ve come across a new one
This job has got stress that is
Second to none
The flu season
Is just around the corner
And I just heard there’s a new pneumonia
That’s resistant to the latest drugs
Every day
Is a new adventure
Trying to avoid
A patient transfer
That exposes your staff
To some new super duper bugs
Working 9 to 5
Trying to control infection
When there’s problems I
Figure out the best correction
How to sterilize
Instruments for patient safety
And I swear that I am
About to go crazy
9 to 5
Fighting germs and protozoans
Every day is like
Refereeing mass commotion
Making sure people
Are doing their hand washing
So there is no chance
Of contamination crossing
9 to 5
Trying to control infection
Reminding people
That they have to wear protection
Every policy
Must be current and enacted
So that a small outbreak
Will not be protracted
